Eat This, Not That

News Corner - Eat this, not that

Eat This, Not That

Eat this, not that is an easy-to-use, colorful & fun guide to making better choices when it comes to food. Not so much a diet book as an educational guide for busy people. It’s slim & compact, making it easy to keep in your glove box, case or bag for easy on-the-go consultation.

David Zinczenko

Why is it a best-seller? Well, the book is aimed at real people with modern hectic lifestyles. Author, editor & researcher David Zinczenko (above), is not a dietician & the book is not filled with jargon, or complicated recipes. It’s simple – on the left of the pages “eat this” & the right “not that.”

Eat This, Not That

Here’s a sneak peek:
Intro includes "Top swaps" - see cover
Ch. 1 Foods to eat very day & 20 foods to avoid
Ch. 2 At your favorite restaurants
Ch. 3 Menu decoder – what you need to know
Ch. 4 Holidays & special occasions
Ch. 5 At the supermarket
Ch. 6 Drink this, not that
Ch. 7 What to eat when…
Ch. 8 For kids

Not That!

How can you lose "10, 20, or 30 pounds"? It's simple math. According to MSN.com’s nutrition page, the average guy will eat 100 burgers over the course of a year. As on the cover, “Eat this” burger & “not that” one & you can save 220 calories. Use this strategy for every burger over the course of a year & you can end up saving a massive 22,000 calories — 6 pounds of fat!

The margins feature plenty of interesting & amusing tips, tricks & fun facts. FYI:

  • ditch the shell of your Taco Bell salad & save 370 calories (p.133) - & you thought ordering a salad was healthy!
  • limit yourself to 1 “tobiko” (flying fish eggs) per sushi session. 1 spoonful is 20% of your daily cholesterol intake! (p.149)
  • a whopping 400% of your RDA of sodium is found in a single tablespoon of regular soy sauce! (p. 91)
  • good news for coffee lovers - according to Brooklyn College research, drinking 4 6oz cups of caffeinated coffee a day will cut your risk of dying from heart disease by 53% (p.62)… BUT
  • “weapon of mass destruction” - a 24oz white hot chocolate from Starbucks has an incredible 640 calories! (p. 128)

As demonstrated above, the book is also a well-researched exposé into the often insane calorie count at some fast food & casual dining places as well as coffee shops. Sometimes more information than you may want to know…
Number one shocker has to be Outback’s cheese fries. A plate of these bad boys is an unbelievable 2,900 calories! (p.12)

Try blueberries for a brain boost.

It’s not all bad. The book also reveals plenty of great options often hidden in menus. Also check out the “What to eat when…” Ch. on p. 274. For example, when you need a brain boost try blueberries. Jamba Juice’s 24oz “Berry Fulfilling” smoothie (p.78) is an “eat this” at only 260 calories.

The book proves that you don’t have to feel starved, left-out or deprived of the foods you love. By making healthier exchanges, you can lose pounds & maintain your current lifestyle. Click here to order your copy & start making healthier choices!
